My name is Cassandra Moretti. I spent 12 years molding Adrian Cole into my chief bodyguard. Then he pointed a gun at my heart for Erin Bennett, the housekeeper's daughter. I destroyed his right hand and left knee, burned his lifetime security contract, and drove him out of Grayhaven. No matter how sharp a blade was, it wasn't worth keeping once it turned on its master. To replace him, I brought Leon Vale, a madman from an underground fighting ring, home with me. One month later, my former bodyguard knelt in a blizzard, his eyes bloodshot as he asked, "What makes that monster better than me?" My new bodyguard held an umbrella over me and ground his shoe into the man's hand. "At least my gun will only ever stand between her and danger."
